Before joining Lot Sixteen, I spent 11 years on Capitol Hill developing winning messages and earned media strategies in countless policy debates. I love wordsmithing complex issues in a way that emphasizes common values and getting the message to the right audience.
My first real job in Congress was on the House Appropriations Committee, where I helped advance the Democrat's position in high-stakes government funding negotiations with many of the most experienced reporters in Congress. My four years on the Committee gave me an exceptional 10,000 foot view of the federal government and a deep understanding of the federal budgeting process.
Following my stint on the Committee, I served as Communications Director for Congressman Peter Welch (D-VT), a proactive member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. After more than 5 years in the House of Representatives, I took the short walk across the Capitol to serve as Communications Director for Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the Senate Armed Services, Foreign Relations, Appropriations and Small Business committees.
I grew up in Ireland, but my American roots are in Montana. If you need a hiking trail recommendation for Glacier National Park or a suggestion on where to travel on the Irish West Coast, send me an email. I graduated from Calvin College (Grand Rapids, Michigan) and moved to D.C. soon afterwards. On weekends, I'm usually watching soccer, playing soccer or texting friends about Liverpool's win. I'm a news junkie and a history nerd, as well as an avid photographer, biker and runner.
