Work with us.
Our values.
-
We are team players.
We feel an obligation to keep people in the loop, rather than cut them out of it.
-
We are action-oriented.
We pride ourselves in looking around corners, evaluating scenarios and being prepared.
-
We take responsibility.
We take ownership of and accountability for planning and executing work across a wide variety of functions.
-
We are truth tellers.
Not every idea is a good one and agencies have a bad habit of avoiding the real truth. Then they get stuck living a lie. We avoid that by never glossing over the truth in the first place.
-
We are partners.
We can take orders and execute, but we know in order to do our job we need to be a part of the strategy and decision making that results in us following one path or another.
-
We support each other.
We are building an agency that feels like home, a team of friends who support each other as much as they challenge each other.
-
We integrate with clients.
We operate a fairly dynamic workplace, with our own internal rhythm plus countless opportunities to jump into clients' priorities and help to get them across the finish line.
Who we look for:
How you might fit into Lot Sixteen is what we try to explore during the hiring process. Specific skills are critical, but just as important to us are your values and your work ethic. That's because a good agency needs good people. Full stop. Beyond that, all kinds of people make a good agency hum with ideas and spirit. Here are some specific types we like:
Are you curious?
We’re in the ideas economy so being curious and liking new ideas is a must. We get paid to learn so if you’re even a little resistant to completely immersing yourself in something you knew nothing about yesterday, keep moving. But if the variety of having a handful of clients and issues that you track extremely closely is interesting to you, we should talk.
Can you juggle?
If getting up and doing the same thing everyday is appealing, consider a different career path. But if you can process information quickly and don’t get ruffled when things change, keep reading. Rarely does a day pass as you expected. There are always detours and new priorities along the way. If that's invigorating instead of annoying, let’s talk.
Are you a good writer?
Do you like to write? Memos, congressional hearing summaries, tweets, press releases, media plans, ad copy, presentations, witty texts to clients, hilarious insider jokes on our Slack channel… you get the point. We write… a lot. It’s how we communicate. So if you like to write, get in touch with us.
Do you like to run things?
We run a lot of trains around here so we need good conductors. Are you a little bit of a control freak but work well with others? Can you not resist providing an answer to a question if you know it? Do you like tying down loose ends? People who can make trains run on time are always welcome.
Benefits:
-
Flexibility
We don’t want to work 5 days a week from the office either. So we don’t! We ask employees to come in a minimum of 2-3 days a week. You pick the days.
-
A sweet office
We are in a beautiful building, overlooking McPherson Square, with a roof deck, gym, and steps from K Street and the White House. Drinks, snacks and a fully stocked bar are on us.
-
Medical/Dental
We cover 100% of employees’ medical and dental benefits through our designated reference plan with CareFirst/Blue Cross Blue Shield. Dependents of our team are covered at 25%.
-
Transportation
We offer transportation benefits in the form of a WMATA Metro card or a monthly parking place near our building. The actual Metro amount will be based on estimated costs from your crib to our office and how often we see your smiling face on average every week.
-
Technology
We’re all about helping you do the job we hire you to do, not fighting with a crappy computer. A new or certified refurbished and fully loaded MacBook Air is standard issue.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
As an equal opportunity employer, we value diversity and do not discriminate against employees based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetic information.
Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they are able to perform every task in the job description. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job and will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education and experience to meet minimum qualifications. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role.
