My career ambitions have always rooted in one truth: stories are the structures that give our lives meaning. If done correctly, the right message can break down complex concepts into digestible understandings – all the more important in a rapidly changing world.

Earnestness, creativity and a splash of ambition are the foundations for any good story recipe, but no amount of spice can turn lemons into lemonade without a little squeeze from the cook.

I've spent the better part of the last decade honing those storytelling abilities as a reporter covering Capitol Hill's energy and environment beat across a host of publications. With innumerable hours spent hounding key lawmakers shaping the nation and endearing myself to the staffers who make Congress actually run, I had a front row seat to the sausage-making of some of the most consequential energy, tax and environmental legislation passed in decades.

The experience gives me unique perspectives into how media outlets craft stories around policy, what crosses the threshold into newsworthiness and which buttons matter to grab a reporter’s attention.

Originally from Easton, Pa. (home of the Crayola Crayon factory!), I attended Villanova University before heading straight to Washington D.C. to kick off my reporting and communications career. Outside work, you can usually find me sweating through the Villanova Wildcats’ latest basketball game, punching out from underneath the trees at the local municipal golf course after an errant tee shot, or antique furniture hunting with my soon-to-be wife.
